Seminar held on 31-10-09
The Workshop took place at 197-B, Jadav Ghosh Road, Kolkata – 700 061. At first Shri Sasanka Sekhar Ghosh, President of Behala Bodhayan welcomed the Guest Speakers and those present in the Audience. The students of the School then welcomed the Guest Speakers with token gifts made by themselves. Around 40 persons participated in the Workshop including Special Educators, Parents and siblings of the Persons with Mental Retardation and Autism and also Students studying in this field. At 10 A.M. Dr.Manideepa Banerjee, Developmental Pediatrician, Peerless Hospital presented a Speech on “What is Autism, Medical Aspect including Presentations, Diagnosis, Investigations and Medications”.
Dr. Anindita Chatterjee, Clinical Psychologist gave a presentation on “Diagnosing Autism”. She shared her practical experiences in the treatment of the children with Autistic features, their capabilities and possibilities of improvement through different therapies. Smt. Indrani Basu, Secretary, Autism Society West Bengal gave a presentation on “Management – how can you help your child with Autism, behaviour principles”. Shri Prasanta Gayen, Occupational Therapist discussed on “Role of Occupational Therapy in Autism”. The day long Seminar ended with a Vote of Thanks by Shri S.S.Ghosh, President of Behala Bodhayan. He thanked the Speakers for spending a major time in the Seminar in spite of their busy schedule. He also thanked the Parents and Teachers present in the Seminar.
